| Atherton Tablelands Social Services DirectoryOffice of the Atherton Tablelands Social and Community PlannerThe Atherton Tablelands Social Services Directory is a project of the Office of the Atherton Tablelands Social and Community Planner, a community based program funded by the Queensland Department of Communities and sponsored by Mareeba Shire Council. This Office provides a range of social and community planning and development services across the four shires of Atherton, Eacham, Herberton and Mareeba in the Atherton Tablelands region, Far North Queensland. Aim of the ProjectThe Atherton Tablelands Social Services Directory was compiled in response to numerous inquiries and requests for information by service providers, consumers, planners and policy makers about the different types of social services available in the region. The directory is a 2005 snapshot of the existing social services in the Atherton Tablelands region. The directory lists organisations; provides contact details; and describes the services provided by each existing community and government social service in the region. It is available at no cost to services, organisations and individuals and all effort has been made to make it user-friendly. Accuracy of the InformationAll information provided in each service listing was voluntarily provided by that particular service. We have recorded the information in good faith. We have also made every effort to be inclusive but recognise that we could have overlooked some social services, especially ones based outside the region that deliver outreach services to people residing in the Atherton Tablelands. If your social service is not included, please email us at the address below and we will include your details in the website. Organisations included were interviewed during 2005, however we recognise that this sort of information can quickly become out of date, so please be aware of this when using the directory. Updating the Directory
This website will be updated regularly. Services wanting to be included, or requiring current entries changed, can email information, at any time, to:
Use of information in the DirectoryWe hope that the directory will be a useful resource for service consumers and providers as well as the general public to help people access a wide range of community-based and government social services. The information in the directory also has social planning and policy development applications. In order to identify and plan what other services and programs we need, we must first have an accurate record of what we already have. Directory data could be used to:
